MOUNT KISCO - A fire broke out Monday afternoon in a rear storage area of the commercial complex that holds the Grand Prix New York go-kart track and other recreational businesses.

No one was injured in the fire at 333 N. Bedford Road, Fire Chief David Hughes said.

There were "heavy smoke conditions" when firefighters arrived but the fire was "contained to the rear of the building" and did not spread, Hughes said.

The cause of the fire was unknown.

Eight or more fire trucks, including from Bedford Hills, Yorktown, Chappaqua, Millwood, Pleasantville, responded to the call that came in about 3:41 p.m.

Bill Diamond, a partner at Diamond Properties, which owns the 600,000-square-foot commercial property, said "it was a very small, localized fire in the storage room" with no real property damage. He said the fire did not affect the various recreational activity spaces in the complex.

"It was an unfortunate event, but I'll tell you the Mount Kisco fire and rescue team really responded fantastic and quickly and really did a great job," Diamond said.
