January 27, 2010
Shortly before 5am on Wednesday January 27th, Bedford Hills Volunteers were requested mutual aid for the second time in less than 24hrs. At 04:44hrs 60 Control requested Tanker 5, along with Katonah Tanker 6 and Pound Ridge Tanker 3 to respond Mutual Aid to 71 North Porchuck Road in the Round Hill section of Greenwich for a well-involved mansion fire. Multiple fire units from Greenwich and Banksville along with Armonk's Tanker were already operating at the scene of the 14,000 square foot mansion fire. Banksville Tanker 7 and Engine 157 were included on the initial structural assignment as they are a Greenwich helper company and commonly referred to as Greenwich Station 7. Car 2031 and Tanker 5 with a crew of six under the direction of Lt. Bancroft made the trek across state lines for the mutual aid request. While en route to the scene, Car 2031 was requested to respond into the scene by Battalion 16. Tanker 5 was to re-direct to Greenwich Station 6 (Round Hill Fire House) and contacted Banksville Car 2581, the water supply officer, for further instructions. Tanker 5 arrived at Greenwich Station 6 at 05:19hrs and Lieutenant Bancroft was assigned staging officer duties per the request of Battalion 16 and Car 2581. Tanker 5 was released from staging at 05:40hrs, when Banksville E-157 and Greenwich E-3 had secured a primary water source from a nearby pond.
