It is with deep regret that we announce the passing of 76 Year Life Member and Ex-Captain George Graniero Sr.

A Bedford Hills Fire Department member since May 1, 1946, he was issued badge #309 and assigned to the Engine Company.  George Sr. held the following positions throughout his time with the Department:

Lieutenant - 1955 – 1956
Captain - 1957 – 1959
Board of Director - 1957-1959
Engineer (E197) - 2000 – 2004

George Sr. was awarded Firefighter of the Year in 2000 and honored at the 2021 inspection for becoming the first member in Department history to achieve 75 years of service.

The passing of our “Senior Man” leaves an unfillable void not only within our Department but also in the Bedford community.  George Sr.'s impact on everyone was evident in January ’22 when the community and our mutual aid partners came together to honor George for his dedication and many years of service. George’s legacy is carried on through his son, Ex-Chief George Graniero Jr., grandsons Ex- Captain Marc Graniero Sr., and Firefighter Jeffrey Graniero. 

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Graniero family during this difficult time.
