Over the weekend your Bedford Hills Volunteers completed a 18-hour Boat Operations course presented by North East Squad Concepts. The members who completed the training attended a lecture on Friday evening followed by two days of practical skills training. Our members were trained in basic boat operations as well as surface water rescue, which allowed the members to learn many ways to both manipulate the boat as well as bring victims onto the boat safely.

BHFD recently purchased our 11 foot Inmar Inflatable Rescue Boat to be able to initiate any rescues prior to the arrival of the Yorktown Heights Volunteer Fire Department Dive Team. This training is valuable for the community and the members of the Bedford Hills Fire Department as we are surrounded by many reservoirs, and have seen significant storms and flooding continue to impact the Westchester area.

We would like to thank the board and members of the Tri-Lakes Community in South Salem for allowing our members to utilize Lake Waccabuc for this valuable training
