Rescue 10 and the F.A.S.Team on Yorktown Working Fire
February 18, 2022
At 12:13hrs on Friday afternoon, BHFD F.A.S.Team was dispatched to Yorktown Heights along with a Tower Ladder from the Mahopac for a report of smoke coming from a residence.
Car 2532 arrived with smoke showing from a 1-story residential structure and transmitted the 10-75 (working fire) which brought in a Putnam Valley Volunteer Fire Department F.A.S.Team and an Engine from the Somers Volunteer Fire Department which was redirected to stand by at YHFD HQ prior to arrival.
First arriving Engine 274 stretched a hand line to the structure and was met with “significant clutter conditions” throughout the residence which initially delayed primary searches and hoseline advancement to the seat of the fire. The bulk of the fire was knocked down in short order once YHFD members gained access to the interior.
BHFD F.A.S Team members assisted on scene providing safe access for fire attack and assisted in extensive overhaul of the structure and debris.
One occupant of the residence was transported via the Yorktown Volunteer Ambulance Corps Inc. to a local hospital for treatment.
We’ve included pictures of this incident to act as a reminder and training tool for fire service personnel that they must continue to train and remain vigilant. These types of challenging conditions can be encountered in any structure, on any street, in any town or city. Keep up with your training, stay alert, and stay safe.
