Members of the Bedford Hills Fire Department (along with Members of Bedford Fire Department, Katonah Fire Department, and Katonah Bedford Hills VAC) attended the December 2, 2024 Bedford Town Board meeting to assist with the official premier of the "I Am a Volunteer! Bedford's First Responders" video.
BHFD membership worked directly with the Town of Bedford in this months-long project, and is thrilled to see it take shape in this interactive format.
"We are thrilled to spotlight our volunteer first responders and help the community understand how they too could volunteer!" said Supervisor Ellen Calves. "These agencies provide critical services that our residents depend on, and yet they face the same recruitment challenges seen nationwide. This video is a way to express our gratitude, help raise awareness of their vital role, and encourage more volunteerism."
The project was undertaken to bring the public’s attention to the fact that the membership of all 4 organizations are 100% volunteer — made up solely of Town residents who freely dedicate their time and effort to protecting their fellow residents’ lives and property.
Bedford Hills Fire Department is proud to have been given the opportunity to take part in this multi-agency initiative, and reminds all residents of the Bedford Hills Fire District that we want YOU to join our ranks and volunteer!
